Disney After Hours Debut Night

Thursday, April 14th was the first night of the new New Disney After Hours Event in the Magic Kingdom.  The event that allows for extra ride time for 3 hours after closing, plus free ice cream and beverages for just a limited number of people.   This is all included in a total price tag of $150.

Rumor is that Disney was not able to sell out the first night.  Just prior to the event beginning, they begin contacting DVC members that were currently on property and offering them to attend the event for free.  It is not know how many guest attend the event or how many attended for free.  Some reports show that DVC guest were eventually turned away, so it is assumed that the capacity was eventually reached.  No one knows what capacity was for the event.  Those that did attend the event reported that crowds appeared to be about 1,000.

One person reported that princess fairytale hall was the longest wait they had seen at 10 minutes.  All rides were practically a walk on.  Although most people chose not to attend the event and kept their money in their pocket, that ones that did attend reported back very favorably.  Most guest reported walking on any ride they wanted without waiting in a line at all.

Since we don’t know how many tickets Disney gave away for free, it is hard to know how big of a flop this event was.  With the amount of excitement from those that did attend, it serves to wonder whether a different pricing point would excite many more guest.  Disney has a few more nights on the schedule for this event, so it will be interesting to see if the attendance is better.
