R.I.P. EarffelTower

The Earffel Tower, has been a park icon at Hollywood Studios before the park was even called Hollywood Studios. The tower was part of the original park, Disney MGM Studios, when it opened in 1988. The tower remained the icon of the park until the sorcerer’s hat was added to the park in 2001. Although not exactly the icon any longer, the tower remained until today, Friday April 29th, 2016.

The company announced in January that the 130-foot-tall faux water tower, topped with a gigantic set of mouse ears, would be coming down to make way for the new Toy Story Land. With many wondering if it was really going to happen, no additional details were announced. Today the tower was taken down and we can only hope that it will be kept somewhere as a memory of what once was.
