Day 6 – Hollywood Studios

I was looking forward to today, as Hollywood is one of my favorite parks.  Although many are questioning whether it is a half day park, with all the recent closures;  I still cannot manage to get it all done.  As a matter of fact, today we were unable to fit in Disney Jr, and Disney Jr. characters as well as Frozen and journey of the Little Mermaid.

For the second consecutive trip, my wife decided to make a planned schedule.  With the uniqueness of Hollywood Studios with so many shows, planning a day with a schedule worked pretty well.  We arrived at the park at 7:30 and we were a little surprised at how large the lines were to get in.  Also, we were surprised to find out that they were randomly scanning magic bands to see if we were staying on property for the early magic hour.  We went to magic hour at Animal Kingdom early in the week and did not encounter this.  One lady asked Michell before we got there and turned Michell away.  When we went back, we were very careful which line we were in and where we walked to get there.  To be completely honest, I am really surprised that the scan to get into the park is not able to determine where your reservation is.

Once we were let in the park,  we immediately went to Toy Story Mania, and rode the ride.  We then went over to Jedi Training to sign up the kids.  While waiting for Jedi Training sign up, my wife and Melissa rode Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster through the single rider line and traded off the little ones to get parent swaps for later.  After signing up for Jedi Training we met Olaf, rode Star Tours twice, rode Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, met Kylo Ren, met Chuwbacca, Rode Tower of Terror, before taking a short lunch break.   On return from lunch we saw Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular and got his autograph, saw Beauty and the Beast, rode Rock ‘n’ roller Coaster two more times, met Woody and Buzz, and rode Toy Story Mania once more with a fast pass.  The kids then participated in Jedi Training before capping the night off with Fantasmic.

Even with all the scheduling and planning, we were still not able to see the Frozen show.  When we arrived after our toy story fastpass, we were too late for them to allow us in.  Part of the reason we were late was because we were waiting for characterpalooza, but the characters did not come out due to weather.  We were also unable to attend Voyage of the Little Mermaid because the line was a little long and we decided it was better to take a lunch break.

Overall, the day went great.  We were able to do a lot of things in a really crowded park, despite sprinkles and showers most of the day.  Hollywood Studios is definately one of my favorite parks, despite the bad rap it gets for having most of the attractions removed for the upcoming Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.
